Fight a fire hydrant ticket.

NYC fire hydrant tickets cost $115, and hydrants are often hard to see, unmarked by curb paint, or hidden behind snow, trash bags or other cars. If the 15-foot rule wasn't clearly broken, the ticket may not stand.

The NYC fire hydrant rule

Don't wait: you have 30 days from the date the ticket was issued to dispute it before late penalties are added. Unanswered camera violations go into judgment after about 75 days; parking tickets after about 100 days.

Grounds we look for

How we help

Send us a photo of the hydrant ticket (front and back if it's a paper notice) plus your plate number using the form, by text, or on WhatsApp at 212-666-1234. We review it free, tell you honestly whether it's worth fighting, and if it is, we prepare and file the dispute with the NYC Department of Finance and follow it through. Our fee is a $2.99 processing fee per ticket we dispute plus 50% of what you save if it's dismissed — if we don't win, you don't pay the 50%.

Frequently asked questions

How far do you have to park from a fire hydrant in NYC?
At least 15 feet, measured along the curb in either direction.
How much is a fire hydrant ticket in NYC?
$115, the same in all five boroughs.
Can I sit in my car next to a hydrant?
Between sunrise and sunset, a passenger car may stand at a hydrant if a licensed driver stays in the driver's seat ready to move it. At night, you can't.
What evidence should I send?
A photo of the ticket and, if you can, photos showing the distance between your car's spot and the hydrant — a tape measure in the shot is ideal.
