Fight a bus lane camera ticket.
NYC bus lane cameras — mounted on poles and on MTA buses — mail tickets to the registered owner. Fines climb with every repeat violation, so it pays to challenge the ones that shouldn't have been issued.

How much is a bus lane camera ticket?
For street-mounted camera violations, the fine depends on how many bus lane violations the vehicle got in the past 12 months:
- 1st violation: $50
- 2nd: $100
- 3rd: $150
- 4th: $200
- Each additional violation: $250
Violations captured by cameras on MTA buses follow their own escalating fine schedule. Camera tickets carry no license points, but unpaid ones add penalties and can lead to judgment, booting and towing.
Don't wait: you have 30 days from the date the ticket was issued to dispute it before late penalties are added. Unanswered camera violations go into judgment after about 75 days; parking tickets after about 100 days.
Grounds we look for
- Road conditions made an immediate right turn unsafe or illegal, so you had to stay in the lane
- Traffic or roadway conditions left no choice but to enter or stay in the bus lane
- You were following the directions of police or traffic enforcement
- A sudden breakdown or medical emergency forced you to stop
- You briefly stopped at the curb to pick up or drop off a passenger
- The bus lane hours or signage didn't apply at the time shown, or the plate/vehicle in the photo isn't yours
How we help
Send us a photo of the bus lane notice (front and back if it's a paper notice) plus your plate number using the form, by text, or on WhatsApp at 212-666-1234. We review it free, tell you honestly whether it's worth fighting, and if it is, we prepare and file the dispute with the NYC Department of Finance and follow it through. Our fee is a $2.99 processing fee per ticket we dispute plus 50% of what you save if it's dismissed — if we don't win, you don't pay the 50%.
Frequently asked questions
- Do bus lane camera tickets give points on my license?
- No. Camera tickets are issued to the vehicle's registered owner, not the driver, so no points are added. You still have to pay or dispute them.
- Why is my bus lane ticket more than $50?
- Fines go up with each violation within 12 months: $50, $100, $150, $200, then $250 for each one after that.
- Can I fight a bus lane ticket if I was turning right?
- Often, yes. Drivers may enter a bus lane to make the next right turn. If conditions made that turn impossible, that can be a valid defense — we check the video and photos.
- How much do you charge?
- A $2.99 processing fee per ticket we dispute plus 50% of the savings if it's dismissed. The review is free.
