Fight a red light camera ticket.
NYC red light camera tickets are mailed to the registered owner with photos and a video of the alleged violation. Many are worth a second look — the footage doesn't always show what the notice claims.

How much is a red light camera ticket in NYC?
The fine is $50. Because the camera identifies the vehicle, not the driver, it adds no points to your license and isn't reported to insurers. The registered owner is responsible even if someone else was driving.
Don't wait: you have 30 days from the date the ticket was issued to dispute it before late penalties are added. Unanswered camera violations go into judgment after about 75 days; parking tickets after about 100 days.
Grounds we look for
- The video shows you were already in the intersection when the light changed
- You came to a full stop, or turned right on red where a posted sign allowed it, and the camera misread the situation
- You were yielding to an emergency vehicle or following police directions
- The vehicle was stolen at the time (police report needed) or the plate was misread
- The vehicle had been sold or the plates surrendered before the date of the violation
How we help
Send us a photo of the red light notice (front and back if it's a paper notice) plus your plate number using the form, by text, or on WhatsApp at 212-666-1234. We review it free, tell you honestly whether it's worth fighting, and if it is, we prepare and file the dispute with the NYC Department of Finance and follow it through. Our fee is a $2.99 processing fee per ticket we dispute plus 50% of what you save if it's dismissed — if we don't win, you don't pay the 50%.
Frequently asked questions
- Does a red light camera ticket go on my driving record?
- No. It's an owner liability violation, so there are no points and it isn't part of your DMV driving record.
- Can I see the video?
- Yes. NYC camera notices come with photos and you can view the video online using your violation number. We review it as part of our free check.
- What if someone else was driving my car?
- The registered owner is still responsible for camera violations, but other defenses — like a stolen vehicle or a misread plate — can still apply.
- How long do I have to dispute it?
- 30 days from the date the violation was issued to avoid penalties.
