★ Major legal holiday — on these days parking meters are also not in effect, along with most stopping, standing and parking rules (rules posted as in effect 7 days a week still apply). On every other date above, only alternate side parking is suspended: meters and all other parking rules stay in effect.

Other suspensions

The City also suspends ASP for snow, storms and emergencies, often with little notice. Check NYC 311, the City's ASP status page, or NYC DOT's announcements the morning of. These pop-up suspensions aren't on the calendar above.

Got a street cleaning ticket on a suspended day?

A street cleaning ticket (violation code 21, $65) written on a day ASP was suspended should be dismissed. Send us a photo of the ticket and we'll check the date against the official calendar and file the dispute. Is alternate side parking in effect today?

Check the calendar above, NYC 311, or NYC DOT's daily ASP status — weather and emergency suspensions aren't on the published calendar.

Do I have to feed the meter on an ASP holiday?

Yes, on most of them. Meters stay in effect on ASP-only holidays. On major legal holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) meters are not in effect.

I got a street cleaning ticket on a holiday. Can I fight it?

Yes — if ASP was suspended that day, the ticket should be dismissed. Send it to us and we'll handle the dispute.
