What happens to a ticket on a rental car

NYC tickets are issued to the vehicle's plate, so they go to the registered owner — the rental company. From there, one of two things usually happens:

Can you fight it?

Often, yes — especially if the ticket is transferred to you. Grounds are the same as any NYC ticket: unclear signs, ASP suspended, meter problems, wrong details, or camera footage that doesn't show the violation. If the company already paid and billed you, ask them for a copy of the ticket right away; the 30-day dispute window runs from the date it was issued.
